April 18-20 and June 13-15, Columbia, SC

Thirty-three (33) faculty members participated in ATE Spring and Summer 2001 Training.
Representatives from Aiken, Florence-Darlington, Greenville, Piedmont, Spartanburg, and Trident Technical Colleges attended one of the ATE training sessions as well as nine(9) out-of-state representatives from St. Louis, MI, Corpus Christi, TX, and the Kentucky Technical Community College System.

Agenda

Day 1 (Wed.)

10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

ATE Integrated, Problem-Based Curriculum

Participants reveiwed curriculum materials from the one semester ATE Technology Gateway and the three-semester ATE ET Core. Activities were related to industry-based, real-world problems and integrating instruction in mathematics, physics/technology, and communications.

Day 2 (Thurs.)

8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

ATE Teaching Methods

Teaming skills, learning styles, and multiple intelligences are among the teaching/learning methodologies and concepts being used successfully in the ATE program. Participants engaged in active learning experiences in a problem-based learning (PBL) environment.

Day 3 (Friday)

8:30 a.m.- 2 p.m.

ATE Train-the-Trainer Session

Participants evaluated the training experience and explored ways to develop and deliver one-day and/or two-day on-campus training sessions for new ATE faculty and administrators. Training materials, activities, and presentation tools were provided.
